There is a profile of women who want to have a baby over 40

I previously ran a women's support group for women and couples struggling with infertility for my local infertility organization. Most women (and men) were in their late 30's and 40's and they all started nodding when I spoke about the "infertility profile". Here are some factors we all seem to have in common - see if they apply to you:
1. Career Oriented - enjoy being in a high ranking position
2. Delayed marriage and childbearing to pursue career or other personal interests
3. Somewhat of a perfectionist
4. Perhaps had a less than perfect upbringing or volatile relationship with parents or family
5. Approval Addict (the need for others to recognize that you're doing a good job)
6. Hard worker - always meet deadlines and you may sacrifice your needs for your job
7. Eventually succeed in everything you do (except getting pregnant - at least for the time being!)

My problems with infertility stemmed from my childhood

Well, I can say without a doubt that all of the above factors are NOT consistent with getting pregnant.
Fertility Chakra Bracelet, Carnelian natural stones
In hindsight, I can say that many of my problems with infertility stemmed from my childhood. I was a bit of a forgotten child (even though most people thought I had a great family) and I spent the rest of my life trying to prove to everyone how "worthy" I was. I pursued a career in a responsible position and I was always considered "the best" at whatever I did. I worked hard at the expense of my health and work became an escape where I didn't have to face that I wasn't happy with my life. When I wanted to get pregnant, my previous "mode of operation" didn't work anymore. When you're in the whirlwind of the corporate pressure cooker, you really don't have time to look within. I finally had to learn how to put me first and I had to take a good look at everything I was running from.

Confront the root of your fertility problems

These are some of the major changes I had to make in my life:
1. I quit my high stress job (which wasn't easy since the "golden shackles" had really built up after 19 years!)
2. I changed my diet - When I worked in the corporate world, I usually had coffee for breakfast and I gulped my lunch down between crises at work. I started eating foods that promote hormonal balance and overall health.
3. I started a program of visualization and meditation which not only helped to reduce my stress level, but it helped me to actually "see" and create my future
4. I confronted my less than perfect childhood and upbringing - I'm convinced that the root of my fertility problems started when I was an unwanted child born to parents that were unequipped to deal with another addition to the family.
5. I finally realized that I am "worthy" just because I am. I didn't have to prove anything to anybody.
If you're trying to conceive and you fit the "profile" I've outlined above, take a good look at your life. Making changes now could make you a much happier person and you just might get pregnant!

When I ran an infertility support group, there were many Christian women and couples who looked to the bible for support and guidance. I said many prayers on the road to parenthood and I know many women and couples who are trying to get pregnant describe it as one of the most difficult times of their lives. It is comforting to fall back on your faith when experiencing such a frustrating and seemingly hopeless situation. I have readers from all over the world with different belief systems. However, many people wonder what the bible says about infertility and if there are bible stories of women who were infertile and how they dealt with it. Although I did have a Christian upbringing, most of my religious education was through the Catholic church which is not known for bible reading like other religions. Since I certainly can't claim to be a biblical scholar, I am including this guest post from Veronica Anusionwu which has a three part series on biblical stories of infertility. I hope it helps those of you interested:
By Veronica Anusionwu Many of you have prayed all year for God to take away the miscarriage and infertility that has troubled you and give you your own child. Low sperm count may have been an issue that has troubled you and stopped you from having your own child. You may have done all you know to do in the physical yet have no answer to your problems. It looks like God has forsaken you.
It looks like heaven has become brass in your case. In times like these what can I do? You may ask?
Today I want us to visit the Bible and see someone who faced the problem of unanswered prayer and how she finally overcame it.
In the book of 1 Samue1- 1:11, I found an unanswered prayer. A woman named Hannah was offering this prayer. It becomes obvious upon close observation that she had been praying this prayer for a long time. If you will notice, her prayer is not unscriptural It is simply unanswered. All she wants is a child. However, no child is born. Day and night she cried out to God to bless her womb and enable her become pregnant with her own child, but nothing happened.
The Bible tells us that Hannah is a faithful child of the Most High God. She and her husband go to Shiloh and worship God each time there is a feast. During those pilgrimages they always make the proper sacrifices and give generously to the work of the Lord in Shiloh.
Since we know that Hannah is a faithful worshiper of Almighty God, it is only reasonable to believe she is also a woman of prayer. Because of her great desire to have a son, we know she is constantly praying to conceive. No doubt she rises early every morning with this special prayer request, "Oh, God, give me a Son!"
Like so many out there she keeps at it, Lord, take away this miscarriage, take away this infertility from my life! Visit my womb with a child. Surely she continues to call out to the Lord Almighty every single day yet nothing seemed to be happening.
Everyone in the house knows her prayer by heart. I am sure she has asked all her family and neighbours again and again to agree with her that she will become pregnant. All the angels of heaven know her desire. To put it bluntly, everyone in heaven and earth seems to have heard her prayer - that is, everyone except God. Here we see the most heart-breaking kind of prayer. It is an unanswered prayer!
The Bible tells us that sorrow over her unanswered petition finally causes her to stop eating, "In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD".
At this point she makes a radical change in the way she prays. Driven by desperation, she makes one last, violent attempt to move God's hand. Thank God, she has the sense to throw tradition to the wind and boldly take hold of that which is rightfully hers! Child of God, don't be turned off by the thought of taking violent action in prayer, for the violent leap of faith almost always brings deliverance, especially when your heaven has turned to brass. We can see the desperation in Hannah's heart in the unusual way she forms her prayer. Her approach to God totally disregards tradition. The words she speaks can be described only as spiritual violence. It did not matter to her any more what anybody had to say.
Hannah's new way of praying swiftly moves God's mighty hand to her point of need. The Bible tells us that within hours of praying, she becomes pregnant. Take a moment, and read her most unusual prayer. (Continue reading in Part 2)

Are You Trying to Get Pregnant? Here are Amazing Biblical Keys to Help You! Part 2
By Veronica Anusionwu
Hannah's Prayer:
"she made a vow, saying, O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head, 1 Samuel 1:11.
In her prayer she openly accuses God of forgetting her and refusing to help her conceive. She dares to bargain with Him for an answer. She talks to God the way a child will talk to a father. She talks to God like one who has a relationship with Him. She knows God's Word does tell us He chooses to be reminded of his word, for the Bible says in, Isaiah 49:14-16.
"But Zion said, The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me. Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me".
I hope you caught the significance of what you just read? The Bible says your name is tattooed on the palm of God's hand. He has placed it there as a reminder so that He won't forget you. Furthermore, He plainly asks you to remind Him of his word. God wants us to remind Him of our needs, our wants and our desires.
Hannah Confronts God
Be assured that Hannah's new-found way of prayer does not contradict God's Word. She simply expresses her true feelings about her situation and how she feels forgotten by God. She literally storms heaven for an answer. She demands an answer from her God, and she gets one.
She Bargains With God
If you carefully study the next part of her prayer, you will see that she actually bargains with God for an answer.
Hannah's Prayer:
"she made a vow, saying, O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant's misery and

remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head,1 Samuel 1:11. She gives her unborn child as a gift to God in faith.
Please make a mental note of the extreme value of her gift. It is very precious, for it will be her first-born son. Don't let the thought of mixing your giving and praying together disturb you. It is not unscriptural to strengthen prayer by adding something to it. Many times I always encourage people to strengthen their prayers with their giving, sow your seed into a good ground. If you are believing God to help you become pregnant sow into a ministry that God is using in the earth for such cause. Bless the orphans and give specifically by faith towards your heart's desire. Hannah did it and it moved Gods hand.

Are You Trying to Have a Baby? Here are Amazing Biblical Keys to Help You! Part 3
By Veronica Anusionwu
Fasting Added to Prayer
Once the Lord Jesus himself instructed his disciples to add something to one of their unanswered prayers. If you remember, He told them to add fasting when prayer alone had failed. "And he said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting". Mark 9:29.
This is what Hannah did - she added giving to her prayers. You too can do the same. Note how swiftly God's hand moves when Hannah boldly adds giving to her prayer! Notice carefully the decisive steps that bring her the answer.
- First, she makes a vow (a strong promise)
- Second, she asks that she be no longer forgotten
- Third, she adds sacrificial giving to her prayers
Let's look at her prayer one more time. I want you to have no doubt about what I am saying:
"she made a vow, saying, O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head, 1 Samuel 1:11.
God remembers her, "Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her, 1 Samuel 1:19.
There you have it in black and white! God states that Hannah's new line of prayer reminded Him of her need. I want you to notice further how quickly her answer comes. As Soon as she returns home she conceives.
While Hannah's prayer may disturb some it is evident that it pleased God. Notice that in just a few days years of unanswered prayer have ended. The miracle does not stop there.
The Bible says that after Hannah gave Samuel to the Lord's work the Lord visited Hannah in a second pregnancy "the LORD was gracious to Hannah; she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD" I Samuel 2:21.

Being a vegetarian or a vegan can be a very healthy lifestyle. It centers around a plant based diet and, although there still temptations in junk food, being a vegetarian usually lends itself well to eating right. I was a vegetarian for many years and like me, most vegetarians are very well educated on how to have a balanced diet with the right amount of protein. The average person's protein needs will vary, and there are differing opinions in the literature for what the protein needs are for men and women. It's estimated that the average sedentary person should get 46 grams (women) to 56 grams (men) per day. This can vary based on body mass and the amount of physical activity. Pregnancy increases your protein needs to about 70 grams per day (again, this can vary based on body weight, exercise and so on). What may be even more important than the actual protein is the other nutrients that vegetarians may miss. This article explains more:

Six Common Nutrient Deficiencies in a Vegetarian Diet
By Penny Crowther
Vegetarianism is a healthy way of eating if done properly. However there are 6 nutrients which
require careful attention in a vegetarian diet, in order to avoid deficiency symptoms.
1. Vitamin D deficiency is common, particularly amongst vegetarians. Vital not only for strong bones and preventing osteoporosis, this vitamin has recently been found to play an important role in immune and cardiovascular health and insulin regulation. Vitamin D is made by the body in the presence of sunlight but with the increased use of high SPF factors, we are generally not obtaining adequate vitamin D by this means. The principle food sources for vegetarians are dairy foods. Foods fortified with vitamin D such as breakfast cereals and margarine are often not particularly healthy. Most vegetarians would do well to supplement vitamin D in a strength of 800-1000iu daily, more if a blood test shows very low levels of vitamin D.
2. Zinc is very important for the immune system and for reproductive health in men and women. It is an essential component of healthy sperm. Vegetarians should ensure adequate intake of this mineral through frequent consumption of pumpkin, sesame & sunflower seeds. Pine nuts, pecans, cashew nuts, peas, seaweed, lentils, oats are other good sources. A poor sense of taste or smell, reduced appetite, frequent infections and white spots on the nails may be signs of zinc deficiency. Stress, alcohol and pollution deplete zinc levels. A high fibre vegetarian diet is likely to interfere with zinc absorption.
3. Vitamin B12 is required for healthy nervous system function, healthy blood and the prevention of anaemia. It is only found in animal food sources, the richest sources being meat and fish. There is a smaller amount in dairy foods. Suggestions that algae may be a source have not been proven.
Persistently low iron despite supplementation may be due to a B12 deficiency. Very low energy and tingling sensations in the body may also be present and elevated levels of homocysteine, a risk for stroke. B12 is not well absorbed orally. Look for a sublingual (dissolved under the tongue rather than swallowed) B12 lozenge.
4. Vitamin A (Retinol) is only found in dairy foods in a vegetarian diet. Beta carotene, the vegetable form of vitamin A is found abundantly in orange and yellow fruit and vegetables but not everyone efficiently converts beta carotene into vitamin A. Healthy skin, gums and prevention of recurrent infections (including thrush and cystitis) are dependent on adequate Retinol levels. Vegetarians with an underactive thyroid are particularly likely to have poor vitamin A conversion.
5. Iron is required to maintain good energy levels, resistance to disease and healthy skin tone. Meat, fish and poultry are the only sources of heme iron which is absorbed more efficiently than non heme iron from vegetarian sources such as soya beans, dried apricots, seeds, lentils, cashew nuts, dark green vegetables & wheatgerm. Female vegetarians of child bearing age have a particularly increased need for iron.
6. Essential Fats such as omega 3 and 6 are to be found in nuts, seeds and oils such as hemp, walnut or flax. These fats are vital for mood, brain, hormone and immune function. Dry skin is usually a sign that more essential fats are needed. As with vitamin A conversion, it relatively common for there to be inefficiency in converting the omega 3 and 6 into the highly usable forms, DHA/EPA and GLA. For this reason vegetarians would do well to take a capsule supplement of algae-derived DHA and evening primrose oil to provide GLA.

After years of struggling with infertility and miscarriage, I finally conceived my daughter. I had a perfectly normal pregnancy and a perfectly normal delivery at the age of 44. But I have to admit, I was scared out of my mind. I guess I was overeducated on the subject of "pregnancy over 40" because, at the time I believed all these terrible things were going to happen to me.

There's so much negative information about getting pregnant over the age of 40
Kokopelli Fertility Bracelet, Rose Quartz, Moonstone
Unfortunately, there is so much negative information out there that I was sure I was going to have gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, premature delivery or a c-section. Even if my pregnancy made it all the way through, I was petrified of having a baby with chromosomal abnormalities, birth defects, or some other horrific abnormality. Isn't that a shame? I spent so many years trying to get pregnant and when I finally succeeded, I was gripped with terror the entire time. My well-meaning doctors and other healthcare professionals didn't help matters either. I had numerous ultrasounds, consultations with perinatologists, and I was monitored to no end! As hard as they tried, they just couldn't find
anything wrong.
Much to everyone's surprise, I was just another normal pregnant women who just happened to be 44! The moral of the story? Be as healthy as you can be. Getting pregnant over the age of 40, can be a perfectly normal and healthy experience. As a matter of fact, women over 40 who get pregnant at a healthy weight and with a healthy lifestyle really don't have that many more complications than younger women. Since writing my book and researching the subject of "pregnancy over 40" I have come across numerous articles, and success stories about women conceiving naturally over 40 and even 50. Does it take older women longer to get pregnant? Yes, it probably does, but it's not impossible.

Many Women Get Pregnant Over 40 By surprise

May women over the age of 40 have been so conditioned by the media to think they are infertile at their age. They don't think they need birth control anymore and they get pregnant by surprise. Sadly, many of these pregnancies are terminated because they were unexpected. The rate of unexpected pregnancies in women over the age of 40 is second only to teenagers! This should be encouraging if you're trying to conceive over 40. The same good advice applies to women of all ages. Eat well, watch your weight, drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest. Oh, by the way, be careful what you read!

Prolactin is a hormone which is best known for being responsible for milk production in lactating mothers. However, it is a hormone that is present in both men and women. When prolactin is elevated, it affects ovulation and menstrual cycles. This is why you've probably heard that breastfeeding women can't get pregnant (although this is not 100% true, many lactating women do get pregnant). Prolactin can have an effect on other hormones involved witht the reproductive system. Prolactin supresses FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and another hormone called GnRH (gonadotropin releasing hormone) which are necessary for ovulation.

If you are trying to conceive, and you have elevated prolactin (unrelated to pregnancy), this could be problematic because of the suppressed FSH and GnRH. Hyperprolactinemia, can also cause discharge from the breasts. Men may also experience infertility as a result of elevated prolactin. It can lead to problems with sperm production and erectile dysfunction.
If you have symptoms of hyperprolactinemia, of course, you should talk with your doctor because there are certain tumors that can cause this condition and it can be caused or made worse from some prescription medications. Women with thyroid disorders or PCOS may also be at higher risk for elevated prolactin.

However, in addition to medical therapy, there are natural ways to deal with this condition. They include:

1. Eating foods high in vitamin B6 - this includes chicken, salmon, potatoes, spinach

2. Increasing intake of zinc - you may take a supplement or eat foods like beef and beans which are natural sources of zinc

3. Vitex or Chasteberry

4. Vitamin E (this may work even better if combined with vitamin B6 as mentioned above)

5. Eating foods high in phytoestrogens - The theory here is that higher estrogen levels will supress prolactin. Phytoestrogens are plant based estrogens which are weaker than the ones produced by your body, but they are considered safer than synthetic estrogens which may be prescribed from your local pharmacy. These phytoestrogens bind with the estrogen receptors in your body so the stronger and sometimes more harmful estrogens can't get in. Phytoestrogens are thought to help reduce breast cancer and other estrogen dominant conditions. Foods high in phytoestrogens include: soy, flax seeds, many nuts like walnuts, almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, many beans like kidney, chickpeas, green beans, and other foods like broccoli, cabbage and sprouts.

Joan Lunden has been a role model for new mothers over 50. Many of us have watched Joan Lunden's growing family over the years with her twins she had over the age of 50. Now she has shown strength and is doing well overcoming her newest struggle with breast cancer. Joan proves that having babies at an older age is possible. She is an active mother who still finds a balance between family and career – even with two sets of young twins.

Joan Lunden on her expanding family in her interview with people magazine:

"Even before I met Jeff, I really wanted to find somebody who wanted to have a family," Lunden told PEOPLE in 2003. As for the manner is which her household grew: "You usually only hear about surrogacy when there's a horror story (over custody). Word needs to get out that it is a viable option if done safely and correctly with a good agency so everyone is protected."

In her interview with Good Housekeeping, Joan said, "These days, when people try to warn Lunden that it’s going to be hard raising babies in her 50s, she quickly sets them straight. “I say, ‘What do you mean having kids now is going to be harder?’ In my 30s, I was up at 3:00 in the morning for GMA. When Jamie was seven, Lindsay was four, and Sarah a newborn, I was up in the middle of the night, breast-feeding and getting ready for the show. I was stretched to the max. Really, it couldn’t possibly be any harder than that. I barely remember buying baby furniture!”

Many women hear about natural progesterone cream to help with fertility and hormonal balance.  When I was trying to conceive, I did use natural progesterone cream because I had been told that my progesterone fell too early in my cycle (this was a test I had done when I went through fertility treatments).  I'm certain that it did help me conceive by resolving some of my estrogen dominance.  This article explains what natural progesterone cream is:

If you think you may have estrogen dominance, progesterone opposes the effect of estrogen. I knew my progesterone was low from one of the blood tests I had done during my fertility treatments. Also, my menstrual cycles were quite short (indicating my progesterone was falling too quickly after ovulation.) I kept coming across natural progesterone cream in my reading which I immediately began using. Natural progesterone is a plant extract which has a molecular structure identical to the
St. Gerard Necklace for fertility and pregnancy protection
progesterone produced by your body (unlike the synthetic progesterone widely used by the medical community). Using natural progesterone and avoiding xenoestrogens can put your hormones back in balance. Since my menstrual cycles were as short as 21 days (they would range between 21-24 days when I first started trying to get pregnant), I knew progesterone cream could help maintain my uterine lining and lengthen my menstrual cycle.

Natural progesterone cream is used between days 12-27 of your menstrual cycle (if it goes that long) and you can purchase it over the counter at health food stores. You can also purchase it on-line, but I prefer to buy products carried by my health food store because I know they enforce a high quality standard with the manufacturers. Follow the directions on the package. The label will tell you how much to use and how many times per day. Be sure to put it on different parts of your body with each application so your skin doesn’t build up resistance. There are different brands on the market, you just need to look for at least 480mg of USP progesterone per oz. The symbol ‘USP’ stands for United States Pharmacopeia. If a product has this symbol, it must meet certain quality standards so you can be assured you are getting the amount of progesterone stated on the package label.

I should mention that there seems to be differing opinions in the medical community about natural progesterone cream (assuming they’ve even heard of it). Some doctors don’t think you can get enough to do any good through a topical application. However, there are other doctors who think just the opposite --- that progesterone is best absorbed through the skin. There are even doctors who feel you can get too much with continued use! All I can tell you is my experience. I was fairly certain from previous lab work that I was progesterone deficient in the second half of my cycle. My menstrual cycles did lengthen in the months before I conceived, frequently 26 - 28 days. Most importantly, I did conceive while using it. Many manufacturers of natural progesterone cream claim that it can help prevent first trimester miscarriage by giving your body the progesterone support it needs. Even though I had a problem with miscarriage, I did not use it during pregnancy. I used it up until the time I found out I was pregnant. When you do become pregnant, talk to your doctor about whether it’s safe to continue using natural progesterone cream.

Have you been told you need donor eggs? Many women are encouraged to consider donor eggs by fertility clinics. First, let me say that I personally know three women who had babies using donor eggs, and they collectively have five beautiful children. However, using donor eggs is a big decision which requires much thought. I was given the option of using donor eggs when I went through fertility treatments, however, aside from the exorbitant cost of paying for the donor and all the associated expenses, I couldn't get used to the idea of having a third party involved.
Amethyst, White Turquoise, Elephant Feng Shui Fertility Bracelet

Here are some things to think about when using donor eggs:

1. Many fertility clinics have age cut-offs for women in their 40's unless they're using donor eggs. If you have unexplained infertility in your 40's, donor eggs are probably going to work as well in a year or two from now as they will if you used them today (assuming you are in good health). TTC naturally may be worth a try first.

2. Before you embark on fertility treatment with donor eggs, you may want to think about what you
are going to tell relatives and friends about your child. Your child may not want everyone knowing that they were conceived with a donor egg.

3. Is the donor going to remain anonymous?
I know one couple who found their donor through an ad in the paper and they have a lengthy legal contract with the woman who donated the eggs. They all met and know each others names, etc.

4. What about the egg donor?
Many of these women are young college-age students, who may be lured in with the money and they don't really understand the risks of taking fertility drugs...knowing what I know now about fertility drugs and the complications I suffered, I would never put myself through that for any amount of money. I wouldn't want to put anyone else through it either.

5. I know at least two women from when I ran an infertility support group who were told to consider donor eggs. Both of these women ended up getting pregnant naturally. One was in the process of saving up for the procedure when she got pregnant on her own and the other had a similar situation. Using a donor is a big step, be sure you've exhausted all other possibilities first.

Do you think you may be pregnant but you're not sure of the signs and symptoms? I had quite a few pregnancies before I had my daughter. Even though most of them ended in miscarriage, I noticed that there were some strange signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Even in my earliest days after conception, I could feel butterflies in my abdomen. I also would have sore breasts and tiny little waves of nausea. It seems crazy that such a microscopic change in your body can create such noticeable symptoms. When I ran an infertility support group, there was one woman there (who finally became pregnant naturally) who swore she felt herself conceive! Impossible? Maybe not! Read more about some strange signs and symptoms that you might be pregnant:

Here are some symptoms you may not have heard of (or some you have)
Customize your fertility & pregnancy bracelet

1. Sore breasts – Most women will report very early changes in breasts...swelling and pain (this was always one of my most pronounced signs of VERY early pregnancy

2. Metallic Taste In Mouth – Hormones can cause odd tastes in your mouth

3. Constipation and Flatulence: Hormones again can be responsible for these changes. Increasing
your fiber can help with constipation, but for some it can increase flatulence. Drink plenty of water to help with these symptoms.

4. Stuffy nose and congestion has been reported by many pregnant women.

5. Odd pigmentation, especially on your face – Pregnancy hormones can cause little areas of pigmentation on your face that look like age spots. These will lessen after pregnancy

6. Ravenous hunger – This was always one of my first pregnancy symptoms. It seemed like I had to eat just about every two hours. It got to the point that I never had enough food in the house. Eating also helped with the little waves of nausea in very early pregnancy (the butterfly feeling)

7. Spotting or slight bleeding – This bleeding may be dark red or even brown. This can be caused by the implantation of the pregnancy. I spotted with all my pregnancies, even my successful one, so spotting isn't necessarily a sign of danger, but it might be something to check out especially if it turns to full bleeding.

8. Frequent trips to the bathroom – Even in early pregnancy before the baby can be seen with the naked eye, many women report having to urinate much more than usual. This again could be hormonal changes.

9. Slight cramping – Even though cramping could be a sign of miscarriage, many women report cramping to the point that they think they are getting their period. If you think you may be pregnant, do not take any medications before you know if you truly are pregnant. I had cramping with all my pregnancies, even my successful one.

10. Extreme fatigue – I was very tired all throughout my successful pregnancy, even in the very early stages. The good news is, at least in my case, that I slept better than ever.

11.Leg cramping and tiredness – My legs were very achy and tired. I have always been big on exercise, but my legs were so tired that I usually stayed off my feet in early pregnancy.

If you think you may be pregnant, it's a good idea to take a pregnancy test. This way you will be sure to watch what you eat, avoid alcohol and other environmental toxins.

Since celebrities are constantly in the media and so many celebrity women and couples are having babies at older ages, they become role models and can change cultural attitudes about older motherhood. It seems our society is celebrity obsessed especially when it comes to having babies. We not only look at their appearance, but also their marital status, their weight before and after the pregnancy and, of course, their age. Celebrities are just regular people when they're not on camera. They have the same struggles as us “regular folk”. But I will say, I do pay attention to those celebrities who have babies over the age of 40. I remember when I was trying to conceive, Madonna had just given birth and she is almost exactly my age. I found this to be a source of inspiration even though I don't know whether or not she underwent fertility treatments.

Here is a list of celebrities who had their babies over 40. Some admit to fertility treatments and/or
surrogates, some had natural conceptions and pregnancies, and some keep their information private. In any event, they have joined the “over-40” and sometimes “over 50” club.

You Can Attract A Baby Into Your Life

I used to ask myself, "why can't I have a baby?" all the time. If you were a new soul ready to make your journey into the world (or in this case – into the womb), wouldn’t you prefer to come into an environment that was calm, peaceful and receptive? Take a look at your inner would you assess your current state of mind?
Fertility Bracelets, featured: customize your stone and charm
When you’re struggling with infertility, you’re usually in a place of anger, disappointment, jealousy, and frustration. Is this the environment you would choose to start your life? Honestly, I think that’s one reason that some couples get pregnant after giving up their dreams of having a family or after deciding to adopt. They finally let go of their ill feelings and move into acceptance. They quit trying
to force things into place which makes room for success. Believe me, you can’t force babies into anything. They will do things in their own time, on their own schedule. This happened to me. After giving up on fertility treatments and even giving up on trying naturally (I told my support group that I was moving on to "childfree")....I got pregnant. I had a totally normal pregnancy and totally normal delivery despite only having one fallopian tube and being the ripe old age of 44.

After realizing that I was in control of my body and my mind, I quit asking "why can't I have a baby?" I started using visualization to create my reality. I would picture my baby in my mind. I would hold her, I would play with her, and I could feel the love for her deep down in my soul. My visualizations were so strong that I would find myself smiling without even knowing it! When you have such loving thoughts, your mindset is automatically lifted and this becomes your point of attraction. Alternately, when you’re feeling angry and deprived, your point of attraction is heartache and pain and this is what you manifest in your life. I brought myself to a place where in my mind I already had a baby. If I saw other pregnant women, instead of being jealous, I would look at them and think, they have such a miracle inside of them, just like me. I planned out my maternity wardrobe, I planned my nursery, it was a done deal. When you’re in the right mindset it’s easy to succeed. It becomes hard to fail!

Don’t be afraid to picture success. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you’re going to set yourself up for disappointment. These thoughts may be keeping you from the very thing you want so much. You can create what you want in your life whether it’s having a baby, or anything else. What do you have to lose by picturing your success? You may say to yourself that you don't want to get your hopes up just to fail over and over again, but your chances of success are so much greater when your mind is on board with your conscious desires. Start with a clean slate. Wipe your past failure from your mind and start a new way of thinking
