Chinese Conception Gender Chart

Pregnancy Over 40, Are You Having A Boy Or Girl Gender Prediction

If you've already conceived, you may wonder if you're carrying a boy or a girl.
my site:  www.getpregnantover40.com
Here's a fun chart from "She Knows" (pregnancyandbaby.com) about the Chinese conception gender chart which supposedly can predict the sex of your baby. Remember, you have 50-50 chance anyway so consider it more for entertainment purposes. See the chart here:

Chinese Conception Gender Chart

From the article:

Are you going to have a boy or a girl? This ancient Chinese chart is said to be able to predict your child's gender -- based only upon your age and the month of conception. (When did you conceive? Check out our conception date calculator.)

Age at conception: 32 to 45
Use the Chinese chart below if you were between the ages of 32 and 45 at the time of conception. You should base your age on your lunar age -- lunar months are about 29 days long.
If you were between the ages of 18 to 31 at the time of conception, please use our other Chinese conception chart (18-31) here.
How do you use the chart? Simply find your age along the top line, and then the month of conception down the left-hand column. See where the two intersect to get your prediction!

Plus-size Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy Over 40, Plus Size

If you're a plus size woman, it seems there's little support out there, especially when you become pregnant.
My site: www.getpregnantover40.com
Yes, there are risks, but this site help to put everything into perspective:

From the site:

PLUS SIZE PREGNANCY
By Kmom
Browse through a few maternity stores and you might conclude that fat women never get pregnant. Apparently, our society can barely acknowledge that women of size date, let alone make love or have babies!

But women of size do make love, get pregnant, and have babies. Unfortunately, little information is available about pregnancy at larger sizes, and most of what is available is highly negative and full of scare tactics.

C-Sections: Necessary? Unnecessary?

Pregnancy Over 40, C-Sections May Not Always Be Necessary

I'm not a clinical person, so I'm certainly not in a position to say when and if a C-Section is necessary.
 My site: www.getpregnantover40.com
When I was scheduled to deliver my daughter, they actually were preparing for a C-section because of my age and no other reason.  As it turned out, we tried naturally first and I had a normal vaginal delivery.

However, I've done quite a bit of reading on the subject and it does sound like many C-Section births could have been delivered vaginally. Here is an article that discusses the increase in C-Section deliveries and some of the complications that can arise as a result:

Why Cesarean Sections are Not the Best Childbirth Option By Dr. Joseph Mercola with Rachael Droege

From the article:

Women who undergo cesareans are at an increased risk of many complications compared with a natural birth. These include:

Increased risk of mortality
Infection to various organs including the uterus, bladder or kidneys
Increased blood loss
Increased risk of complications in future pregnancies
Decreased bowel function
Respiratory complications
Longer hospital stay and recovery time
Adverse reactions to anesthesia
Risk of additional surgeries such as hysterectomy or bladder repair

Chinese Pregnancy Calendar

Boy or Girl Prediction With Chinese Pregnancy Calendar

Most of us who struggle to get pregnant wouldn't dream of trying for one gender over another.
My site: www.getpregnantover40.com
We would be elated with a baby boy or baby girl. However, some people do have strong feelings for one gender over another. If you're interested, the Chinese Gender Chart may help increase your chances for either a boy or a girl. Here is a link and an explanation of how it works:

Pregnancy Over 40 - Over 40 Motherhood Resource

A Child After 40

When I was trying to conceive over the age of 40, it was hard to find support online or anywhere else for that matter!  This is why I wrote my book and created my website (getpregnantover40.com).

A Child After 40 is another great resource for anyone looking for support and information about pregnancy over 40 and raising kids in your 40's and 50's.  It is frequently updated and has encouraging stories of other "older" moms.  See the site here:

Celebrities Honest About Post-partum Depression

Pregnancy Over 40, Post-Partum Depression

I think it's such a good thing that celebrities are honest about their real life struggles.
My site: www.getpregnantover40.com
It just goes to show you that we're all human and we all go through day to day trials and tribulations. I've heard a number of women on TV and radio openly admit that they struggled with post-partum depression and the two celebrities I recall most recently are Brook Shields and Marie Osmond.

I do recall periods of weepiness after my daughter was born, but I believe it was just lack of sleep and hormonal changes. I guess I was fortunate I didn't have full-blown post-partum depression because it sounds like it can be incapacitating. Here is an article from WebMD about Brook Shields and her bout with post-partum depression:
