Autism, Vaccines, Jenny McCarthy on Oprah

Pregnancy Over 40, Autism and Vaccine Connection?

I watched the Oprah show the other day when Jenny McCarthy talked about how her son was diagnosed with autism.

It is her belief that the vaccines caused her son's condition.

I've been following the vaccine-autism debate for many years and I certainly don't have the answers, but I do believe Jenny McCarthy has a point when she says that we can't have a "one size fits all" vaccination program. Here is a link to the Oprah website where Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Pete talk about their sons' autism:

Post-Pregnancy Physique - Britney Spears Looks Good To Me

You can hardly escape all of the media hype surrounding Britney Spears and her appearance on the MTV awards. I really don't pay much attention to Britney Spears, but aside from her MTV lethargic performance, I thought she looked pretty good. If you listen to all the stories about her you'd think she was a frumpy slob. Here's a woman who recently had two babies, and she looks like a young woman of normal weight with toned body. Granted, if you parade around in a sequined bikini outfit, you're going to be measured against a higher standard...and opening yourself up to all sorts of criticism (I have no problem putting on a swimsuit, but I have no intentions of wearing anything but a one piece).

Lets face it, most women (at least in the United States) are overweight, and those of us who have had a baby have to contend with the belly stretch too. Even though I currently weigh two pounds less than before I had my daughter, and I religiously do my crunches, my waistline is larger than before...that's normal.

We need to give women a break. I'm not endorsing obesity, but the unrealistic standard of beauty is unfair all the way around.
